FL Midi Settings and Keyboard

So I have recently got Fl 11 on my mac and have an AKAI MPK49. On my old computer which was a PC, the keyboard would be recognized by FL and I would be able to use it even though I had some latency problems. On my mac the keyboard is not recognized at all, I have tried rebooting the program with it plugged in and that did not solve anything. Im not sure if it is just because there're still working out bugs for the new OSX FL or if it is the type of keyboard. Any help would be great, thanks.
