Channel panning and volume keeps resetting itself

Ugh, another problem that I can't get to go away...

I imported a track as separate MIDI files and it assigned random volume and panning values on each of the associated knobs. I clicked on all of them and deleted the events and then reset all of them and saved it. But when I opened it again, the values are all random again. Is there somewhere else that assigns knob values to channels? Also there is no automation track.
