2 Bugs: Audio Recording / Superior Drummer 2

I'm having two problems with the latest FL Studio 12 (been having these with all 12.X versions). My CPU is i7 930 with 24gb of Ram, SSD for system drive, traditional HDD for projects and recordings and 4 SSDs for sample libraries. I Use high-performance power plan and have set HDDs to never go to sleep.

1. Audio Recoring skipping
Whenever I record audio, even with an empty project with no effects at all, the audio skips and overloads occur. However I am able to record midi & automation with CPU-intensive plugins, using Pianoteq 5, Omnisphere 2, Superior Drummer 2 and various softsynths playing at the same time with no troubles. I tried this and recorded smoothly for 30 minutes straight, in the end just banging the keys of my midi controllers and trying to produce as high of a polyphony count as I could and still there were zero overloads.
But as soon as I record even one mono source from my audio interface (Roland Octa-Capture) the overloads occur within a minute and keep happening. This happened with my previous audio interface as well, which was a Roland Quad-Capture.

My buffer size is 256 by default. Audio recording shouldn't really be more CPU-intensive than bunch of these powerful plugins at the same time, right?
I tried setting playback tracking to Mixer and tried disabling a Low Latency mode from my Octa-Capture driver settings (which is supposed to further lower latency) but none of this helped. I also tried recording to a different HDD as well but it didin't help, overloads still occurred. I have a feeling this audio recording thing has been happening with all versions of FL Studio 12.

2. Superior Drummer 2 (latest version, and ones before that as well) requiring "Use Fixed Size Buffers" option to work without crackles. Known issue?
