ZgameEditor Visualizer general question (how to fade in/out to black)

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place to post this so sorry if im wrong to post this here. Ive just started to use Zgame, and basically im just looking for a way, when making videos with Zgame, to fade the video in from black at the start, and to fade the video out to black at the end. I tried just adding a solid colour layer and automating 'alpha' to give the fade in/out effect, however when watching the rendered video the fade was really jumpy and didnt fade smoothly, leading me to believe there is a better way to achieve this effect? Thanks alot if anyone knows how to do this, and sorry again if ive posted this in the wrong place.
