patcher control link to any plugin parameter?

Hi

i can create an automation clip from a number switching tab in a 3rd party plugin. (each number has a different sequencer pattern on it) I can then set the automation to control swithcing which pattern to play in song mode.

My question is there a way to assign this number switching parameter to a knob or fader in patcher to manually control it as I wish? I tried to but could see it as an option.
