my recorded audio does not pan

I have recorded audio in with my MPC. The tracks are stereo, but when I play them back while mixing, the panning does not apply. I turn the knob all the way to the right and the audio disappears. What could be causing this. As I mentioned, the tracks are stereo when I sample them and record to FL, but I can't manipulate the placement in the mix. It only comes out as varying levels to one side. This applies to all audio clips and the panning issue is present in the monitors and headphones. Please assist.
