Dump to piano roll causing system hang

Hi,
I've merged an audio track on my playlist to one long audio track that's the length of the project.
I then will open it up in the editor,
Select dump to piano roll
And the system will hang. Not just fl bur the entire system.
The track in question is a piano loop. It does have some large silences in it and it is 4 minutes long if any of those are a factor but I can't for the life of me figure out why it's causing such a catastrophic system failure.
