FL freezing after pressing play

I'm only new to FL, bought it yesterday but used to use a pirated version. But when I press play on pattern/song, it freezes. If I have something layed down for it to play, it will just repeat it like very horrible feedback. The only way to fix it is a force quit.

Is this a CPU issue? Could it be overloading? It freezes with nothing in the channel rack too.

My specs are: i5-7500 3.4ghz, 8gb Ram, SSD.

Any input would be beneficial, I'm totally lost at the moment.
