Playing a VST instrument with a MIDI file crashes Deckadance

I'm having a very repeatable issue with trying to play VST instruments with MIDI files.

I load up a VST instrument (and I've tried several: Pluggo Bassline, NI FM8, ReFX PlasticZ), then load up one of the example MIDI loop files provided with Deckadance and hit play on the VST slot. It immediately crashes.

It doesn't make a difference if any audio files are playing or not. Turning on MIDI IN THRU and I can play the instrument with my keyboard controller without an issue. I can edit the VSTi loaded up in the slot. I can run my audio files through VST effects, but trying to play a MIDI file with a VSTi causes Deckadance to crash.

I'm using 1.08 ("VST host v.0.49" in the About), and this crash occurs on both my desktop machine (3.2GHz P4 w/RME HDSP Multiface) and my laptop (2.0GHz Core2Duo w/RME HDSP Multiface). I'm using the RME Hammerfall ASIO drivers.

This happens in both stand-alone mode, and when Deckadance has been loaded as a VSTi (Host app: EnergyXT), in which case it also crashes the host.
