Another project for a film scoring class, also this is also a new for my professional music portfolio. The deleted scene we had to do music for did not have music originally. This is 100% my own composition. Enjoy!
Some compositional notes:
This was for a film scoring class that was more compositional based than the usual technical film scoring class which focuses more about technicality more than the composition. There were many things that we had to include which were:
-Use of ostinatos
-Pedals/Rhythmic Pedals
-Parallel Motion
-Independent Triads
-Clusters
-Two-Part Intervalic Writing
Of course, the first thing I had to do was figure out the hit-points for this scene and there were many of them. I used chord progressions that moved in non-functional motions, just for texture, color and effect. Some awkward relationships between the low pedal and melodies help to create a dark sound while still building a lot of tension. Though it may seem more tonally centered towards the end the motion is parallel using independent triadic writing with no tonally functional harmony. All in all these elements are used effectively to compliment the scene accordingly.
If any of you have questions and/or comments about this track production and compositional wise please don't hesitate to post in this topic! Thanks!
