A really nice and easy-to-develop feature would be an "Autoslice Channel" function. Select a track, select that option, get asked "Split every...?" and you answer "4 Beats", and your audio/score is cut into 4 beat sclices, every slice becoming a new pattern, and every pattern is placed on the right position in the playlist.
