best ways to enhance a snare?

Hi,

Am hoping someone can help me with the best way or ways to enhance a snare in the mixer (using plugins)? I'm currently
using an 808 snare in my current project and as most of us know, that snare is pretty toyish sounding without any enhancements.
I'm asking for experts help on this if possible because I've played around with enhancing snares myself before, but I wasnt going by
any expert know-how or manual, I was just messing around doing my best by ear, which is cool, but I am curious if there are some
methods using the plugins I'm not aware of or even using plugins i've never used. If you were say to enhance an 808 snare in the mixer (or even outside of the mixer or even cooler, both) what kind of setup would you do/try? It's for a trap/hip hop kind of sound for the genre if that helps.
