FL Studio running incredibly slow

Occasionally just randomly when I'm in a project FL will start to work extremely slow, this is not a cpu issue as it will happen in a project with just one audio track and the track will play fine, its just when I go to click on any buttons like play, stop, scrolling, etc it will take a good 5 seconds to actually take effect, it also takes like 30 seconds to close out when I press the x. this doesnt cause issues when saving projects or anything its just really annoying and I can't imagine what could be causing it, my computer is essentially brand new and basically only has fl installed, there are no other processes running, and it seems to have ramped up in frequency after the 12.5 update
