MIDI audio sync issue?

Hi there tried a lot of different things so I thought I would post about the issue I've been having. I recently got a new laptop and wanted to record some MIDI stuff again with my piano. On my old laptop I had no issues, but I have also changed the cable in which I'm connecting my piano to my laptop so both may be the issue. When I play notes they are just out of sync audio wise which really throws off everything I'm playing. If I turn the volume off and record without being able to hear it, all is normal so I believe the audio-sync problem is the issue. I have tried pretty much every option in the Audio settings tab and am very confused about how to go about fixing this so if anyone has any ideas that would be a HUGE help.
