There's kind of an annoyance when working with automation clips, when I want precise control with points, I can hold control, shift, alt, and all of these work fine.
Now I usually press down those keys before dragging the point in the automation clip, which works fine as expected, but with the control key, I have to press the point first and then press down control, otherwise it acts as the selection tool as control and mouse drag normally does in the playlist.
This is kind of an annoyance when working with automation clips a lot, so my suggestion is that, when you hold the control key in a playlist and click on a point in the automation clip, it will know that it's a point and act as it should, and not switch to the selection tool instead.
