Best quality for exporting .wav stems

I have backing tracks made in FL studio with various different sequenced instruments (piano, cello, etc) that I export as seperate stems (wav) to import into Adobe Audition (multi-track wav editor). The backing track is mixed as I want it in FL studio (all the parts at the right volume). Obviously when I export the stems with their current volume level the wavs come out smaller than normalised (sometimes tiny if it's a synth pad or something) My question is... does this effect the quality of the audio as it is not making full use of the bit depth? Should I go through each instrument and get it as close to 0db as possible and then remix the levels in Audition to get a cleaner sound? Sounds right to me but just wondered if mr. or ms. braniac out their could give me a heads up...

Cheers
Twan
