Automation for Pattern Length

Hello,

can i automate the length of a pattern? All i see is the number in the channel rack but when i right click it there is no "link to controller" feature.
I want a feature like in a normal drum machine, where i can vary the number of steps played.
In my internet research i found this:
Using Automation Clips: One way to create more dynamic patterns is to use automation clips to change the pattern length over time. For example, you could start with a short pattern and gradually increase the length over the course of a song section. I dont find that knob, please help,
