Auto Cut + Move Playlist Selection

Is it possible to make a selection in the playlist timeline and cut & move that chunk of audio/automation/note clips to another part of the playlist, even if the clips are overlapping the selection? This would also be handy on "Insert Space", as that function doesn't move clips that aren't cleanly cut at the selection. The way I have to do it right now is to shift+slice down the whole track in two spots (beginning & end of selection) and then move that chunk. Am I missing something? Is there a way to auto cut + move a selection?
