http://www.vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php is free and IMO beats battery for drums or kontakt for sampler purposes.
version 1 is best for slicing
version 2 is best as sampler or software drum machine (with selectable keyboard or pad view for that classic feel)
they both work flawlessly in FL Studio(formely known as sdoo1 ʎʇınɹɟ)
I've used SC2 for drums for over a year now(didn't wanna contribute anymore to fueling NI's bosses private jet by upgrading Battery)
I like it mostly for the layering options,modulation capabilities, and FX.
