I've been programming for many years. Ever since I was in the 4th grade (8 years old), when I started in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Now I'm 16 and have the following in my inventory:
-HTML
-XHTML (used in almost exactly the same way as HTML)
-CSS
-JavaScript
-Flash/ActionScript
-Java
And recently, I've been diving into C++

Here's my reason for making the thread. Part of the reason why I want to use C++ is to program VST plugins. While that is definitely not my priority in learning the language, it is still very important to me that I do so. How would I get started in programming VST's in C++? My platform is Xubuntu 12.04 LTS, but I want to program VST's for Windows mainly. Any tips are welcome.
Other info:
I'm iffy about working with an IDE, but when I do, it's Code::Blocks.
Else, I write my code in Bluefish text editor.
My preferred platform is linux, but I own four computers. Two are desktops and two are laptops. Laptops run Xubuntu and Lubuntu. Both desktops currently run Windows 7. So access to a windows machine is not a problem.
