An ON/OFF option for the Trigger Key would be awesome. In other words, hitting the appropriate Trigger Key once will start playing the sequence and hitting it again will turn it off vs. holding down the trigger key will play the sequence until the key is released. The ON/OFF option is very useful for using sequences along with a real drum kit. (Some of us drummers like to play along with loops rather than be replaced by them.)
Very Good Idea..! to add to what you have suggested here, I think that it would be great if you were also able to consider implementation of something similar to the following: (as a slightly alternative idea to the suggestion quoted above)
Pressing a key to activate a pattern (i.e. C5) plays the pattern while it is held down... then pressing another key (i.e. D5) to play another pattern preset starts playing that pattern, but if I release the First key (C5 in this example, which is not even actively playing a pattern - as D5 took over because it was subsequently pressed), the "MIDI off" message stops everything, including the pattern that is currently being played "D5" (as I am still holding down D5, having only released C5) ...so based on this, I suggest the following idea...
There should be two modes to which Drumatrix can be play via the pattern keys. A "Legato mode" and a "Re-trigger mode" .... both modes will allow you to hold one key down, press another key while holding the first key (thus changing the pattern temporarily to the new pattern triggered by the second key), and then by releasing the second key press, it will return to the previous pattern that was activated (which was the initial key press... assuming you are still holding down the first key obviously)... similar to how a mono-synthesizer might function... So now what is the difference between the two modes?
"Legato mode" would play the patter thru it's course, and when a new key is press while holding the first, it will pick up "Mid Sequence" playing the beat pattern from the exact position of the prior sequence...allowing you to jump between patterns and doing very cool mash up type of effects with multiple beat patterns. So in other words, Legato mode will allow you to play the pattern connected to the most recent key press, and if the most recent key press is release, then it reverts to the same play back position of the pattern from the key press before it (assuming that the key is still held) ...BUT releasing a key that is not the key that is actively playing the pattern should not stop the whole performance!
"RE-trigger mode" would act similarly, allowing you to push and release keys while holding others, but the pattern would start from step 1 every time a new key press was to become active... or a key release was to happen, activating an underlying held key's pattern from step 1 again...
... when holding two or more keys, the midi off message from the most recently played key should then revert back to the second most recent played key, and then when that is release, it should revert back to the third key etc... in other words, as you release, the patters would go back in reverse order until the only key held is the original key played.
Anyway, thanks for allowing my suggestion... Very very cool drum synth! It is awesome already, hope you keep adding more and more cool features and continue to develop this thing, as it has tonz of potential!

ALSO: something that would be really cool is if there was a switch you could flip to switch to just a pattern editing mode where a full 16 x 10 matrix (a "16 step" row for each of the 10 Drum Pads - all in one grid or "matrix") could be acessed, so you could really speed up editing and tweaking of the patterns! ...Giving the name Drumatrix a whole new meaning!!!
