I finally got around to trying this dashboard out and have some problems.
1) I'm not sure but I don't think the mod envelope stuff did anything at all, any of those knobs.
2) The mixer knob for osc 3 did nothing.
3) For some reason when I would be adjusting some of the parameters for one oscillator, it would mess up whatever I had set for a different one. So say I have osc 1 set up the way I want it and set it so that I'm adjusting osc 2. Then I adjust stuff and all of a sudden osc 1 gets changed to something else which totally throws off the sound.
The dashboard is totally and completely useless this way. I don't know if this could be just a problem I'm having for some reason, or if it's the dashboard.
While I'm posting I have a couple questions about dashboards in general.
A) Seems that all dashboards I see only cover the basic functions, why not any of the advanced stuff that actually allows you to use whatever synth to its potential? As an example, I can't access any of the effects settings for the A-station from this dashboard, or even the oscillator stuff like unison modes etc. I would imagine that those things all have some way of controlling them externally via midi, but I could be wrong. I know it would be a lot of work but whats the point of doing it at all? Without that stuff these dashboards seem kind of, well they are, totally pointless. If i have to get up and walk across the room to add unison or effects or whatever...
B) Why isn't there more interest in them (dashboards)? |
