I've had great success running FL Studio 8 on a Mac, which is now my primary machine choice.

Tested on these machines:

-MacBook Pro 17" - 4 gb ram - 2.4 Intel Core Duo - OSX 10.5.4 (Leopard)
-MacBoon 13" - 2gb ram - 2.16 Indel Core Duo - OSX 10.4 (Tiger)

VMWare Fusion 2 (Currently, 1.x is VERY cheap and upgrades to 2.x for free!!)

I've tested with both Windows Server 2000 and Windows XP SP2. Have had no problem.

The trick is to set the memory for the hosted OS properly:

    1. Install or port your Windows OS to your Mac/VMWare.
    2. Set the hosting memory to 512 mb in VMWare for your hosted Windows instance; not MORE or the Mac will drag. The default is 1024 and this is too much.
    3. Set set the audio latency up a bit: In FL Studio under Options -->Audio Settings I have the Direct Sound Properties samples widget set to about 4800 samples, highest priority, use polling, use hardware buffer, safe overloads (32 bit buffer is turned off).
