FL 9.1 Typing to piano layouts explained

Select different typing to piano layouts by right clicking the 'Typing keyboard to piano keyboard' button on the recording panel.

Some play notes in a fixed scale, some play chord map layouts. All in the musical key of C. You can shift the channel root note to play in a different key or transpose later in the piano roll.

You can create your own mappings using a simple script edited in notepad like this...

Code: Select all

C5,D#5,G5
D5,F5,G#5
D#5,G5,A#5
F5,G#5,C6
G5,A#5,D6
G#5,C6,D#6
A#5,D6,F6
C6,D#6,G6

Save as a .scr format file and place in your 'FL Studio 9/System/Config/Typing to piano folder'.

You must leave the 0's where they are.

Add up to 4 notes per key, in either note name format (e.g. C5#) or midi note number, seperated by a comma.

Place '-1' if you dont want a key to play anything.

You will likely find pressing certain multiple key combinations cut out. This is due to how typing keyboards are linked.

I have made a simple tool that may help making a script in FL Synthmaker here... http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=51382
