How To Make & EQ Sub Bass (Correctly)

Hi everyone. For quite a while now I've been wondering how to correctly make and EQ sub bass. I've tried searching for tutorials on Google, but there aren't really any useful videos/websites on how to do it. I tried watching a YouTube video by AcesToAces on how to do it, but a load of people in the comments were saying that he didn't know what he was doing, because apparently you're not supposed to EQ a pure sine wave, and I don't even understand what a lot of that technical stuff even means, and to be honest it makes me feel very inadequate

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

p.s. I'm not very confident with FL Studio, so a little extra explaining might help if that's okay, lol.
