Is this correct or is it a bug?

I'm still learning music so I have a question that may be about music, or it may be about FLS. . . .
I exported a score from the piano roll and I noticed something interesting. In the piano roll I have eighth note, eighth note, eighth note, dotted-quarter-note, eighth note, half-note. But the half note crosses a measure boundary. So it got scored as eighth note, eighth note, eighth note, dotted-quarter-note, eighth note, eighth note-tie-dotted-quarter-note, with the tie crossing the bar. Is this the standard way to notate this, or is it a bug in the scoring software?
