Difference in distros today can easily be solved by using Flatpaks (or AppImages/Snaps). They pull up all the needed dependencies, and are distro-agnostic.
An additional assumption is that Linux users want everything for free. This is not true, otherwise no (F)OSS projects would have been successful in their donation/funding calls (check, for instance, how much Ardour have collected for the month/year:

I am even thinking about organising a crowdfunding effort to gather funds so that IL can dedicate some developer time for (helping to) creating a semi-official Wine (Bottles/CrossOver/PoL/Lutris/etc.) port for FL Studio, because they know the internal mechanics of the software and can offer guidance why something doesn't work well or at all.
