control creator question (pause step in patcher?)

Basically, as the subject suggests, how does one use the pause step version of a knob (so that the halfway point lights up) that shows up in control creator but does not appear to be usable in patcher?

Pause step arrow:

Actually, now that I look at it again, the rail changed somewhat in patcher too from the knob style created in control creator. Any ideas what I'm doing here?
