Hey Guys n Galz,
Getting to the point now where i am upgrading, however i have a few questions. This machine is ONLY going to be used for FL and various VST's...and im looking to get the most bang for my buck.
Now, as i understand it, FL doesnt FULLY support multiple processors, if you are using 3rd party vst's. correct ? 90% of the vst's i use are 3rd party...so should i be seeking a duo-core with a fast cpu ? or would it be worthwhile to get a quad core with a slightly slower cpu ??? (p.s. i would love it if in future versions...you could assign a vst to a processor, in case your a bit savvy and want to thread things yourself -- that would be super! ) also, what kind of RAM is the most stable to use for FL ? should i be sticking to XP or are there any benefits yet of using Vista ?
so here's the broken down list:
CPU : duo-core/core2 duo (3.0 ghz) vs. quad-core (2.4 ghz)
RAM : looking at corsair (2gb)
OS : Vista / XP (benefits ?)
Sound : currently running M-Audio audiophile 2496
anything else i could look at to really give my performance a boost ? I hate having to render out parts of my tracks...and i want to retain good latency.
so...a little help guys ?
p.s...I apologize if this has been asked before...if so...please just point me to the right thread cheers !
