Recording mode

I clicked on record mode and fiddled around with the tracks (track on/off/volume/effects/etc.)
Turned record mode off.
Hit play.
It repeats what I just recorded.
....Can't make it go away.

I can't work on the project anymore because it won't stop repeating the things I recorded earlier on.
I just want it stop playing back.
