Synthmaker won't let me automate

How do I create automation clips for parameters in synthmaker.
I can't right click on an SM control and create an automation clip.
If I move the controller, and go to the wrapper drop down "last tweaked parameter>" is greyed out.
I've tried hitting record, and moving the controller to have it create a clip I can access from the browser, but no clip is created.
