Good Monitor Speakers + headphone

Hey guys,

I'm a complete bedroom amature (damn, I need to rephrase that!) and at the moment am getting to grips with FL using a pretty good set of headphones and my X-Fi Soundblaster card.

I think I need to get some good monitor/reference speakers - volume isn't that important (i'm in a flat, so the neighbours will only moan!) .. I want to know what people are using for good 'reference' speakers - those that will reflect a true dymanic range.

I don't want to break the bank as i don't have a studio and am doing this as a hobby - but if there's something you think I should know about, point me in the right direction ...

Also, what's the view on using quality headphones to mix with ? Is this a total sin ? Are good Sennheiser cans good enough ?

Thanks,

S.S.
