I've been having a pretty smooth experience with this new beta, and I'm finally starting to ease my frustration with the state of things on my studio computer.
I did notice an issue which is remaining...
1) I opened up my latest serious project, which was started on 12.5.1. I had reported the problem of one of the sampler channels searching for the wrong audio file on loading. This is happening on beta 2 as well, except in this case, there are no "recently used" samples to chose from where the correct sample can be easily found.
This seems to be related to how FL saves items to the custom data folder. The project is saved in the same folder that the custom folder points to.
When making the project, a raw audio file was loaded into edison. A selection was made in edison, and the selected area was dragged to a sampler channel. I renamed the channel, mainly for peace of mind. Should not this sample be saved to the custom data folder as is, since the channel does not contain the entire full length audio it was taken from? Even if the audio is not manually saved, then I would assume that the sample would be placed in the data folder with the original audio's name, but with a "_2" added, since this seems to be the convention. Neither the original audio file, nor the dragged sample are present in the custom data folder, which explains the trouble locating the sample.
This seems inconsistent, and should be an avoidable issue by setting up a custom data folder. To me, this means that the dragged sample was not saved ANYWHERE... but if it was, why would it be anywhere except in the custom data folder?
A related question... Why, when saving audio, does edison still not default to the custom data folder of the project which it the instance is loaded in? This is a constant annoyance to browse every time I want to save audio, and also seems inconsistent.
This is not really a feature request, but a gripe... We need a way to completely avoid the sliced beats and recorded folders being used when we have set a custom data folder for a project. It adds confusion, and defeats the purpose of having a data folder set. I can't even figure out consistently how FL decides what is saved to the custom data folder, or when.
Aside from this, I've been having a good time with some simple project work. APDC seems better than ever. Haven't even tried much for new features or options yet. Good work!
