VFX tools - midi note scanner?

Hi everyone,

Everytime I see the VFX Color Mapper and Keyboard splitter, I try to make sort of note scanning to recognize low, mid and high notes in an incoming chord input. But I lack the needed algorithm.

Is there anybody who did that? Or an idea how to make it?
