How to use Maximus correctly ?

hey,
recently i decided to use maximus instead of third party plugins to master.
and i can't grasp what i'm doing wrong.
i understand all of usual suspect of using a compressor /limiter for master and compression,
but when i try to achieve ultra loud master using maximus i failed every time.
i have tendency to mix very quietly -30 db and have very even crest factor.
can you tel me what i"m doing wrong.
