Using old plugin database

It's fairly annoying that every install we have to sort all this out again. Copying over the old plugin presets for the database, into the new folder so we have our usual work flow.
And wondering if by copying the old presets into the new folder/version of FL, i will be missing out on new versions/updates of plugins, simply by using old presets...

There must be a better way or have i been doing it wrong somehow all these years?
