Recording takes for MIDI data as well?

I don't remember if I asked this or not (Sorry if this is a repost), but is it possible to do something like the recording multiple takes feature for MIDI input similar to how audio works? It'd be extremely great for improvising on the keyboard. I've tried just doing the loop recording, but the previous one doesn't get muted, so I have to stop it and mute the previous recording and move the new one to a different pattern.

Just a suggestion if it's not already possible.
