Can you record single channel mono?

Sorry, I know the question sounds silly.

Recording a mono input via the mixer or Edison results in a stereo file with identical L/R channels (exactly as the manual describes). Is there a way to record a single channel mono file from either the mixer or Edison? Saves disk space (and maybe CPU?).

I know I can record to Edison and then convert from the stereo to mono, but this isn't as seamless as a mixer or Edison setting.
