I think he means, concerning Kontakt, that in the other DAWs, when you load an instance of Kontakt, a popup window opens and asks you if you want to use 16 stereo outputs with Kontakt. If we check "yes", the 16 outputs are automatically routed and assigned to the 16 mixer track (and 16 track in the playlist).Shinyless wrote:Could you elaborate ? In some other DAWs, it is not necessary to load 16 "MIDI Out" manually to use Kontakt's with 16 MIDI track in multi-instrument mode. The DAW automatically adds 16 MIDI tracks assigned to each of the 16 MIDI channels (from 1 to 16) and they all correspond to a 16 mixer track.
However, in my opinion, it would be very, very difficult to automate with FL, because it would require a macro that does:
1- insert 16 MIDI Out channel on 16 playlist track :
2- open an instance of Kontakt in the channel rack and assign to the first MIDI Out track of the mixer :
3- assign the 16 Kontakt outputs offset to the 16 mixer tracks corresponding to the 16 MIDI Out tracks of the playlist that are created when the 16 MIDI Out are added to the playlist (but which are useless since the MIDI Out do not generate sound by themselves):
4- assign a "MIDI input port" to Kontakt:
5- assign the output port (corresponding to Kontakt MIDI input port) and MIDI channels to each of the FL MIDI Out:
6*- of course, after, the user must load his instruments into Kontakt and assign the MIDI channels and output them for each of the instruments in Kontakt.
...which produces this (a multi-instrument and multi-output Kontakt instance):
All this (except point #6 which is at the user's expense) is done automatically in some other DAWs! But in FL, it would be very complicated to automate everything, I'm afraid!
And BTW, in addition, automatically assigning 16 mixer tracks for each multi-instrument Kontakt can quickly exceed the maximum number of 125 mixer tracks in FL Studio. 125/16 = 7.81 so only 7 Kontakt instances maximum with multi output. This is one of the reasons why 125 tracks in the mixer are insufficient in FL when you do something other than EDM/electro/Hip Hop/Rap.
