CPU hungry visuals of Parametric EQ 2

Is it just for me that hovering a handle in Fruity Parametric EQ 2 costs additional 40% (!) of CPU constantly?
Till now I only noticed that the visuals get quirky when moving a handle as the FL internal CPU meter doesn't display the same higher CPU usage as the task manager does. Recently I noticed this as I was trying out Process Lasso which always displays CPU usage in the systray.

With visuals off, few CPU usage.

With visuals turned on, 32% more CPU needed (ok, HQ mode).

And now this: I hover a handle and get astonishing +41% CPU usage. Seems a bit ... much for hovering? Someone has the same experience?
Image

Note: FL is in stop mode, nothing is playing. The CPU load is constantly +-2% on the level in the pictures.
Can it be some problem with my Pentium 4?
