I recently purchased an Expressive E Touche and was trying to do some rhythmic automation with it, but I never realized how truly awful it is to record automation in FL Studio until I used the Touche. The event editor's existence is a shame, a very big blemish on this otherwise excellent software and the more I use it the more I'm convinced that it's creator had sadistic intentions. What a sick joke it is that you have to go through like 4 menus in the piano roll in order to convert event data into an automation clip, the cruelest part is that there isn't even a keyboard shortcut for this despicable process.
The event editor is inferior to automation clips in every way imaginable except 1 feature which I think should be added to automation clips after the event editor is slaughtered and never brought back. The ability to scale levels is the only thing the event editor can do that automation clips cannot, which is why I think there should be an option to scale levels for automation clips. Automation Clips would also be a lot more versatile if they had the ability to be stretched in the same way that you can stretch a selection of MIDI notes in the piano roll and it would be a great feature if MIDI notes had an option to snap to the grid when stretching them rather than functioning as if you were holding down alt.
I know these features probably won't ever be implemented and the event editor will most likely remain in FL Studio for years to come, but all I want to know is why we can't record automation into automation clips yet? Is it just simply not a priority? Is it a performance issue? Is everybody somehow convinced that the event editor is "good enough"? I don't think there's a single person who prefers to use the event editor over automation clips excluding the ability to scale levels. It's so bare bones and clunky, Why is it the go-to method of recording automation? There's so many people who prefer to record automation rather than draw it in and there's probably quite a few people who chose other DAWs because they tried to record automation in FL Studio and were given a huge middle finger straight from Image-Line.
I don't understand, this is so important and every forum post I've seen bringing this up was brushed off and responded with something like "all you have to do is Piano roll options>Edit>Turn into automation clip" but it's as if the people saying that don't realize that the reason they have to tell them to turn it into an automation clip is because the event editor is so abysmal that it's almost unusable.
