Different Notes Make Louder Sound

Hey all I am just wondering if this is for everyone.

So I have a VU meter attached to one specific mixer channel. The mixer channel is routed to any random instrument. I notice; however, whether keyed in on MIDI controller or keyed in by simple click in the DAW, my VU meter is reading different notes (of same velocity and length) at different volumes. I am just wondering if this is due to the human ear hearing certain frequencies louder or if it is a setting in FL studio I can change?

Extra information: the VU meter is reading some notes extremely louder (not double or specific value), as in moving up from note to note in the octave makes my VU meter get increasingly louder and some notes (jump) extremely loud compared to the prior note. It remains the same throughout all octaves. And converting this to Audio Clips, you can see the escalation in amplitude of the waveform.
