I recently watched a few videos on using patcher and stereo shaper to separate mid/side channels but I'm a little confused with the faders, I had a look on fl studio's description but was still confused. When I click "mid a-side splitter" the 4 faders on stereo shaper jump to -6db automatically. Is there a reason for this? Should they be left at -6db or should I put them all to 0? I don't want to change the volume of the mid/side I'm just using this method for EQ-ing. Please see attached photo for reference. Any help would be appreciated.
* Also is there an easier way to eq mid/side in fl studio without having to do all this? Are there any free or low cost third party plugins that can do the same job? I've heard fab filter pro q3 can do this but it's way out of my price range at the moment
