Mental health is a serious thing, so I hope for you you are seeing someone professionally to talk about this stuff. That said, it's your decision if you want to do that or not, but seeing how my own brother struggles with autism in his life, a therapist can really help straighten you out and focus on certain goals. It's also sometimes a nasty reality check and people always want to avoid that as much as possible. Anyway, it's not really my place to force you into therapy or something, but it's the first thing that came into my mind when reading this. There's absolutely no shame in it btw, I even see it as a strong thing to do.
About the music: I'm also close to 30 and I've "given up" on becoming a professional musician already years ago. (If it still happens tough, great!) I'm not going to say like you did that my stuff is at a professional level, even though I'd like to think it is, because when labels reject your stuff it's only going to be a harder blow to take. I still have the mentality that making music is a hobby into which I can release myself and my emotions. If other people also like that: AWESOME. If not: I had fun making it. Ask yourself this: Do you still have fun making music? Because if you want to make it for a living and don't have fun doing it, what's the point? Sure it's probably "the one thing you're good at", but that doesn't mean it's the only thing you'll ever be good at.
It SUCKS that the people that love you - or are supposed to love you - don't support you (anymore). That really sucks. I don't think your mother said this because she wanted to hurt you, but because she wants what's best for you and she thinks this isn't the way. I hope you don't have big arguments with each other about this, because - and of course I don't know your mom - she needs you to realize something you are not seeing, or something you don't want to see and that's that there are other ways to be succesful. I lost my mom 10 years ago and my dad is always asking me stupid questions about why I haven't been played by Armin in his show, but that's because those people are ignorant. They have no idea how tough the music industry can be.
By the way, the average age of the best mixing engineers, mastering engineers, composers, song writers etc in the world is 50 plus, so there's still a long road ahead to work towards.
an apology.
