Weird behavior when sidechaining plugins

Sup, I just stumbled across this issue this morning : in my template, my delay sends have a sidechain input from the main vocal bus so that they are ducked when the vocal plays. Standard stuff. I have the sidechain input already selected in the plugin as shown in the image. However, when I proceed to actually route my vocal track (which is different from my main vocal bus), it overtakes the already selected sidechain input because the vocal track is earlier in the mixer (say track 7 instead of track 40). The vocal track becomes number '1' in the list of sidechain inputs, even if number '1' had been previously selected as being the vocal bus. I think this is kind-of weird and counter-intuitive.

Thoughts? Let me know if this isn't clear.
