Mapping Formula help needed!

Hello. I'm trying to map a bipolar tuning knob of a plugin to my controller so it would have a limited range and a center dead zone.
The formula I have so far is 0.49+Input*0.02, but the problem with this is that the center values to the plugin translate to -0.4 cents or +0.4 cents and I would like it to align to 0. I thought that maybe adding a center dead zone to my formula would do the trick but can't work out the math. Any smart person out there who could help me out?
