In my personal opinion, you only need to buy one of serum and sylenth1. Then go buy some high-quality presets. Imitate the preset you purchased. You got it all

Yes, this! I have been thinking about buying some quality synthwave sample packs that really nail that sound and then just messing around until I can recreate the same (or similar) sounds myself.

Then as I improve, I can just start creating my own original, yet synthwavy sounds.
