Is it possible to open plugin by midi controller?

Hello, title is kinda vague, but I'm gonna explain it better now.

I use SPAN (frequency analyser) on current mixer track so I can see the frequency spectrum of certain track. I don't need this plugin to be opened all the time. Is it possible to open/close plugin with a single click on my midi controller (Arturia Minilab Mk 2)pad?
It would greatly improve my workflow.

I only managed to link controller to turning on/off plugins but I can't find a way to use it the way I want.
