I am using FL Studio since version 7. I have never ever felt it being or becoming complicated. Not sure why you feel insecure about it becoming complicated in future?
FL Studio has grown tremendously with each version, just like any other DAWs out there.
Calling it a toy or not really makes no difference. But still, there is a HUGE difference between a toy and a functional DAW. It is made to create music (way more complicated that playing with a toy), that's it. Oh, and music videos too! Anything that is required to make that process better and faster while still being easier can't be avoided, and it has always been FL Studio's strength. Their tag line "The fastest way from your brain to your speakers" is one of the best if not the best I have even seen across any products/services because it is not just words, it actually does that.
