That's exactly what it is.
Why would the checkmark be labeled with "Init song with THIS position" then when it actually another position.
It's this way because we're a bit limited in what we can show in the menus. The text indicates what the menu does (set the initial value to the current one), the checkmark indicates that there is in fact some initial value set.
This was implemented long before the delete item was added, and we didn't see a reason to remove that behaviour.
